How to get Hits

Wow. I'm on track for a million hits to this website this month! Insane. Here's the stats:

Month: Sep 2003
Unique Visitors: 33,478
Number of Visits: 137,276
Pages: 376,410
Hits: 973,942
Bandwidth 14.03 GB

In the past week or so the hits have just gone through the roof. There's a couple of reasons for this. The first is the blog war between me and Scoble. Even with redirects, everyone likes a good bitch-fest it seems. The second (and actually much more impressive) is the fact that I've gotten linked to by Mac Surfer twice. That site must get a hell of a lot of hits because those links drove thousands of people to my site.

Like I've said before, I'm not writing this weblog to gain readership, but it's pretty hard not to be surprised when your stats go up by more than 30% in a month. And just to be able to say my personal weblog drove a million hits would be kinda nice as well. I can't imagine what the "A-list" bloggers' traffic must be like. If you look on Technorati, I'm not anywhere near the top 100 blogs. That's nuts.

So anyways, the moral of this story is if you want to get hits, pick a fight with someone and mention Macs a lot. I told this to Erik (who's running over 3 million *page views* a month right now) and he suggested that what I need to do now is pick a fight with a Mac head. LOL.

It should be interesting to see how much it drops off for next month.
