How to Spell And Say My Name

I'm always amazed at the ways people butcher my name online. I mean, yes, everyone pronounces it incorrectly which is fine, I probably don't say your name right either. But spelling? I mean, *it's in the URL*. If you can link to my weblog, you can spell my name correctly.

Let's examine it very slowly:

R U S S E L L

Notice that there are 2 S's and 2 L's. Okay, if you don't like having to type *so* many l's, then just Russ is fine. But definitely with two s's and never with an "o".

Now my last name:

B E A T T I E

There are two T's and most importantly there is no "Y". Warren and Ned are not my relatives. The way you pronounce it is like "bee-AT-tee". Yes, I know everyone says bee-tee, but that's not right, even you people living in the British Isles. You don't pronounce Greenwich like "green witch" do you? Same thing here. I didn't make it up - it's just how some families with this surname pronounce it in the U.S.

I'm going to use this post in the future as a link I can leave in comments on sites who mispell my name. Thank you if you've spelled my name correctly, I will do my utmost to return the favor.

-Russ
