Skipping a Day Recap

I've been getting around 3 to 4 hours a sleep for the past week or so. Anyone who's a human being knows that you can't keep this up and they'd be right. The time-change was the tipping point and yesterday I was so tired it was insane - to the point of having microsleeps. And then last night after my wife and I had gotten settled and I sat down on the couch to watch the news (war) for a bit, I fell asleep. Instantly. Deeply. Then Alex woke me up for some reason and I decided to go into the bedroom and lay down for a bit... sometimes I do that around 9 or so for a half-hour so I can stay up until 4 a.m. and be productive. Not last night. I hit the hay and stayed there. Alex woke us up around 1 a.m. and I was up for an hour or so, but then I went back to bed. I'm still a little tired!

This weblog is a great tool to keep myself in check. First, I weighed myself this morning and after a winter of gorging, I'm back to 104 kg again after dropping down to just over 94kg last Fall. That means I'm going back on the Atkins again - I was on it until I switched jobs last year and the only restaurant near us made it impossible to stick with the plan, then I went downhill from there. So now I'm a fatty again (228 lbs). I feel like shit, so I've got to start excercising and eating less sweets at the minimum, but I think I'll try a week or so of induction to get me started.

Secondly, I had a plan a while ago where I read "Getting Things Done" and was organized for a month or two (about as long as I stayed on my diet). Then chaos slowly has crept back in and I'm now back to living day to day again.

Much of this has to do with Winter. I'm not me during the Winter. Or at least I'm not the me that I like during Winter... I'm a much better person during the rest of the year. This is why I like California so much: Sun. Short winters that everyone else in the world would call an extended Autumn. But now, walking to work this morning, it was sunny and things are starting to be green. I even took my gloves out of my jacket and will soon be putting the wool one away and grabbing my lighter Spring one. The World is moving, so sun is entering our apartment again in the morning which is also nice... We've got a street lamp outside our window, so we can't sleep with the shades up which is a shame, since I really respond well to light in the morning.

Anyways, changes are coming again. We're going to be moving within the year because Alex is getting too big for our shoebox sized apartment and the U.S. is calling... well, sort of. The U.S. is actually pissing me off right now, as it is most of the rest of the world. I swore I wasn't going to return until Bush was out of office, but I know I won't be able to hold out that long...

Anyways, that's why I skipped a day. I won't promise it won't happen again - Summer's coming. ;-)
