Eclipse 2.1 Dog Slow on Linux?
I have a friend Greg in San Francisco who's interested in swapping over to Eclipse from IDEA, but he's using it on Linux (RedHat 8 with Gnome 2) and it's impossible to use. His first question was whether Eclipse has "type ahead find" which it does on my Windows box and does quickly - however on Linux it didn't work. Second was the speed for opening editing windows - we're talking 2 to 4 seconds wait after clicking on the document. Lots of other little issues...
His machine is better than mine and he's used both Java 1.3.x and 1.4.x Any thoughts? I'd love to convert another Eclipse fanatic. Is there any Native Tweaks? Any thing that can help? Thanks...
