Testing RTE

I just ran across this Open Source Cross Browser Rich Text Editor, and I'm trying it out now. It only took about 10 minutes to add to my site... It seems like it works okay in FireFox 0.9 and after I post this, I'll try it in Internet Explorer. I recently saw some service with an RTE on the editor and I thought it was pretty damn cool. The last time I even played with this stuff was way back when we were messing with EKit.

The thing is, after two years of posting using HTML, I'm not sure if I want to use an RTE! I mean, it's second nature to put the <p>'s and other markup into the post. And I can see that the editor isn't going to support code samples very well, so I'm torn. I guess I'll have to put a flag on my edit page to use/not use the RTE, depending on what I'm doing.

And I can see that even though the resulting markup is definitely not pretty... that'll make it harder to switch back and forth. And it's not like I ever use different fonts or headers and stuff.. Hmm.

We'll see...
