I just saw the open letter to iPhone customers on Apple's site - We're getting a $100 Apple store credit. That's pretty good - and an amazing turnaround from yesterday. I think $100 credit is both a nice gesture and pretty fair. It's better than a kick in the head at least, which is what we got yesterday.

Why didn't Steve just say "the bloggers are all pissy" in his letter though? I mean, hundreds of emails out of the almost 1M iPhone customers swayed his opinion? Naah. It was all those early adopter bloggers out there kvetching about the price drop that did the trick I think.

IMHO, everyone who didn't complain and in fact defended Apple online shouldn't get a rebate. Call it the "zealot moron" tax if you'd like. :-)
